Race Relations & the March on Washington

August 28th is the 50th anniversary of the "I Have A Dream" speech at the 1963 March on Washington. That speech led to a greater awareness of race relations and passage of the Civil Rights Act and Voting Rights Act over the next two years. But civil rights is a work in progress, and today we discuss the speech and where race relations have come over the last half-century, with Currie Ballard, historian and producer of the Emmy award-winning "Ebony Chronicles"; Joyce Henderson, retired educator who attended the March on Washington as a high school student in Oklahoma City; Dr. Pauline Harris, Human Rights Coordinator for Tulsa Public Schools and Professor of African-American Studies at Tulsa Community College; and, State Representative Mike Shelton, democrat from Oklahoma City, a graduate of Langston University and a member of the legislative black caucus.
