Main Streets Program (4:09)

Since Oklahoma became part of the Department of Commerce "Main Streets" program, more than 720 million dollars has been re-invested in towns across the state, and more than 12,000 jobs have been created. The program has helped revitalize more than 40 communities by bringing new housing, retail and office space to once fading downtown main streets littered with empty buildings and decay.

Tax Credits (11:40)

Over the past five years legislators have trimmed more than one and a half billion dollars from the budget of state government, a third of that in just this year. As a result funding for public education, roads and bridges and state agencies have all been slashed. During that time however, lawmakers have left billions in tax credits on the books. Lis Exon takes a look at some of these tax credits and their effect on the state budget. Dick Pryor then sits down with Warren Vieth from Oklahoma Watch. Mr. Vieth has been following the progress of a task force created to assess the effectiveness of tax credits.

According to the national Kids Count program more than 20,000 Oklahoma children were involved in some form of early childhood education. A new coalition looks to increase that number. Oklahoma Champions for Early Opportunity is bringing business leaders together to invest in early childhood education. Debra Anderson is the executive director of Smart Start Oklahoma, which is affiliated with OK-CEO. She joined Dick Pryor to discuss this new initiative.

Shell Oil Lawsuit (13:37)

It is one of the biggest civil lawsuits in state history and it took from 1995 until December of 2010 for the case to be resolved. But outside of Stephens County few Oklahomans have ever heard about it. Shell Oil Company ended up paying more than 66.7 million dollars to the heirs of two Oklahoma men who went into the oil and natural gas business back in 1923. And the giant oil company is still in court today fighting over the attorney fees they were ordered to pay.
