5-3-13

On this ONR, it's the big week at the state capitol, as top lawmakers and the governor hammer out a potential budget deal. But while some agencies are expecting more funding, others are looking at cuts. And state spending cuts aren't the only concern of some agencies, as sequestration begins to impact Oklahoma. As the state continues to battle prescription drug abuse, the PBS NewsHour highlights the struggle of one young Oklahoma athlete who lost his life to addiction. Plus, surplus programs, business news, and a trip to the new Woody Guthrie Museum in this ONR.

The Legislative Black Caucus

It's a small group of lawmakers, but the Oklahoma Legislative Black Caucus has long been part of the policy-making process at the state capitol. Four members of the caucus join us to discuss their goals, priorities, and reaction to the latest news from the capitol: Representative Anastasia Pittman of Oklahoma City, who is the new chair of the Oklahoma Legislative Black Caucus; Senator Constance Johnson of Oklahoma City's Forest Park, whose term as chair ended just a few days ago; and from Tulsa, Senator Jamar Shumate.

Rising Property Insurance
