Oklahoma's Correction Crisis

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Oklahoma's population grew 22% from 1980 to 2010. During that same time, Oklahoma's prison population grew by 590%. Corrections funding will likely be one of the first items addressed when the legislative session begins on February 4th. Joining us today to talk about the problems facing the state's correctional system are Justin Jones, Director of the Oklahoma Department of Corrections; Don Hewitt, sheriff in McClain County; Chris West, Undersheriff in Canadian County; and, from our Tulsa studio, Major Shannon Clark, Public Information Officer for the Tulsa County Sheriff's Office.

A study finds that the new A-F school grading system implemented by the Oklahoma State Board of Education hasn't earned a passing grade.
