June 28th saw the arrival of the much-anticipated Supreme Court ruling on the affordable health care act, commonly dubbed 'Obamacare.' The high court voted in favor of the controversial bill to either the chagrin or joy of people across the country. In Oklahoma, it was certainly more of the former, as lawmakers had held off on creating a healthcare exchange in compliance with the law, figuring it would be overturned. Now with the law moving forward, state legislators must figure out where Oklahoma goes from here in the land of health care.

Oklahoma doesn't just have a high incarceration rate--the number of elderly incarcerated on the rise. 1980 saw roughly 85 inmates over the age of 50 in Oklahoma. In 2011, that number had skyrocketed to nearly 4,000, and that number is only expected to rise. That's leaving prisons across the state scrambling to deal with it's aging inmates.
