Oklahoma music legend Patti Page passed away on New Year's Day at the age of 85. The "Singin' Rage" was known for her lilting rendition of the 'Tennessee Waltz," the first crossover music hit. Page was the top-selling female vocalist of the 50's, and would go on to have shows on every major network, and even win an Emmy. The Claremore native was slated to receive a lifetime achievement award from The Recording Academy before her demise. In 2010, ONR spoke with Patti Page about her music, stardom, and her Oklahoma roots.

On this episode of the ONR, voters have been urged to 'get out the vote,' and some are doing so earlier than others as early voting grows in popularity. But it's having a profound impact on the campaign season and it's length. Campaign season also means campaign speeches and ads. We take a look at the world of political operatives and their role in the world of politics. One of the groups trying to be reached by those campaign messages this year? Hispanics. They now are the largest minority in the United States, and as such are a strong voting block. In our Oklahoma Forum excerpt, we discuss the Latino community and voting. Then our reporter Cathy Tatom visits 'Little Mexico' in Heavener, Oklahoma, to see the impact of a new Latino population in the town. Former South Dakota Senator and Democratic presidential nominee George McGovern died Sunday, October 21 at the age of 90. McGovern famously ran against President Nixon in 1972 on a platform of ending the Vietnam War. While he lost the battle for the presidency, he would continue in the war to end hunger and instill peace for the rest of his career, and indeed, his life. In his final interview, McGovern spoke with ONR's Dick Pryor about his time in office and how Watergate forever changed the face of politics in America.
