Newsmaker Interview Lilly Ledbetter Part 1

Featured in Top Stories

March is Women's History Month. This week, a woman who recently achieved a place in American history came to Oklahoma to tell her story of fighting for equal pay. After Lilly Ledbetter learned she was making forty percent less than male managers at a Goodyear tire plant in Alabama, she took her case to court. Ten years later, and after losing at the U.S. Supreme Court, she turned out to be a winner when congress passed, and the president signed, the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Restoration Act...a law that re-instated a long-standing portion of the equal pay act that the Supreme Court had changed. We spoke with Lilly Ledbetter on Thursday, International Women's Day.

Newsmaker Interview Dr. Trita Parsi

Featured in Top Stories

While the economy is considered the top issue in the presidential campaign this year, another big concern is looming: Iran. The U.S. has imposed economic sanctions on Iran to hurt that country's economy in an effort to prevent it from developing nuclear weapons. Fear over instability in the region has pushed oil prices higher in recent weeks, but there is also the concern of war. Dr. Trita Parsi is an expert on U.S.-Iranian relations and author of a new book on U.S. diplomacy with Iran, called "a single roll of the dice." Dr. Parsi gave a lecture on the topic at Oklahoma City University this week.
