The holidays are over and the clean up has begun. For years that meant mountains of trash heading for incinerators and landfills across the state. But this year big efforts are underway to ensure less holiday waste is burned or buried. Especially the toxic trash that results from chucking out old electronics.

The city of Stillwater is testing how well some new workers can clear storm water drainage ditches. It's a group willing to work just for food, around the clock, seven days a week to get the job done. EZ Go Wind Power (3:39)

According to the department of commerce, there are 880 commercial-scale wind turbines across the state. Each is capable of generating enough electricity to power at least 250 homes. But not everyone wanting to tap into wind power is doing it on a grand scale. They are turning to a type of wind generation that isn't regulated by the state, and in many communities, doesn't even require a permit. Micro wind turbines are also popping up at private homes, including the Governor's mansion. The company that manufactures energy balls makes one about half the size of those installed at the travel plazas for home use.
