Loud exchanges and name calling erupted at the State Board of Educations first meeting with new Superintendent Janet Barresi. The fight is over three new people Superintendent Barresi has hired as staff. Former state Sen. Debbe Leftwich is asking a judge to dismiss the felony bribery charge against her. She is claiming absolute immunity from prosecution. Once again the state has set a new record for the number of people on food stamps. A special report on why there are so many hungry Oklahomans and why their numbers keep rising. ONR Extra. Oklahoma sets another new record for the number of people on food stamps. Food stamp enrollment is now 39% above what it was two years ago. In addition to open carry and allowing concealed guns on college campuses, another bill has been filed to allow guns to be left unattended in vehicles at technology centers, as long as the owner of the gun has a concealed carry permit. Governor Fallin says she is looking into creation of a special ‘closing fund’ to help her close deals to bring new businesses to Oklahoma. Common, higher and career tech education leaders all testified before a legislative panel today about their budget needs for the new fiscal year. The Newsmaker Interview tonight is with Madeline Delone, Executive Director of the “Innocence Project.”
