Last week saw history made at the state capitol--Brian Bingman was re-elected as President Pro Tem of the Senate, the first time a republican has held the title for two consecutive years. And T.W. Shannon officially accepted his new role as Speaker of the House of Representatives. Speaker Shannon is the youngest speaker and the first Speaker of African-American heritage. In his acceptance speech, Speaker Shannon laid out a plan for the session that included more conservative legislation and bipartisanship.
