IMG_1613In case you haven't noticed, ballroom dancing is cool again. ABC has Dancing with the Stars and Fox has So You Think You Can Dance. Now, the spectacle and flair of ballroom dancing comes to OETA with the three-part series INTERNATIONAL DANCESPORT WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS.

Top dancers from all around the world perform and compete in three main ballroom dancing IMG_1462categories: Latin, Standard and World Ten. The "Latin" category will have the Cha-Cha, Samba, Rumba, Paso Doble and Jive. The "Standard" category has the Waltz, Slow Foxtrot, Tango, Viennese Waltz, and Quickstep. And the "World Ten" category is a mix of all ten dances.

The competitions were filmed in Vienna, Berlin and Melbourne and each includes background and insight into the passionate dances and a candid look at the dancers.

INTERNATIONAL DANCESPORT WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS starts this Saturday, July 11 at 8pm. The next two episodes will air the next two Saturdays in the same timeslot. All three episode repeat the following Sundays at 6pm. Cha-cha-cha!
