Thursday Night Docs
Written by Holly on Wednesday June 17, 2009
We take pride in Thursday nights around here because that's the night we show a full hour of our award-winning documentaries.
GALLERY (8pm) explores the art and culture of Oklahoma. STATELINE (8:30pm) focuses on the issues and concerns of Oklahomans. Both have won numerous awards, including several regional Emmy Awards.
You may have detected our pattern... The newest episode of GALLERY premieres the first Thursday of the month, followed by an archive episode of STATELINE. They trade places the second week with STATELINE premiering and an archive episode of GALLERY. We repeat the new episodes in the third and fourth week, but they're paired with different archive episodes.
If you didn't follow all of that, don't worry. It all comes down to this... The documentaries are well-done, timeless and still in production. So, keep watching for the old and the new!
Tonight's GALLERY is our newest episode, "Oklahoma Rocks". From rockabilly to bubblegum pop, Oklahoma has its fair share of rockers. So many, in fact, that the Oklahoma History Center has an entire exhibit dedicated to them. Here is the open to the program to get you in the mood. And at 8:30pm, it's STATELINE "Thunderbirds", originally produced in 2006, spotlighting Oklahoma's 45th Infantry Division. You can read more about "Thunderbirds" and even watch the full episode here.
