Dracula1931posterWith Halloween approaching, horror movies are running rampant on basic cable, and I can think of no better time for us to take a look at the origins of the genre.

Before there was "Scary Movie," there were actual scary movies. And before there were scary movies, there was Bela Lugosi as "Dracula." It was the first film of its kind from an American studio, but did you know there was a stage production of Dracula before the film? Did you know that there was a German film before the American one? And did you know that Lon Chaney almost had the starring role instead of Bela Lugosi?

These are things you'll learn in the program BELA LUGOSI: THE FALLEN VAMPIRE. Tonight at 10pm on OETA.

P.S. Today would have been Bela Lugosi's 128th birthday... Or maybe it still is!... Mwahahaha!
