Children's Programming Changes

It happens every fall and it's never easy. Yes, it's that time... Time for the children's programming to change.
The good news this year is that it's not changing that much. And, the addition of THE CAT IN THE HAT KNOWS A LOT ABOUT THAT is something we're all very excited about.
Here is the new weekday lineup for OETA's Main channel and some explanation about the changes...
7am CURIOUS GEORGE – No change
7:30am THE CAT IN THE HAT KNOWS A LOT ABOUT THAT – This is a new children’s series based on the classic children’s book by Theodor “Dr. Seuss” Geisel. It stars Martin Short as the Cat, who leads Sally and Nick on natural-science adventures, with a little help from the Fish, Thing 1 and Thing 2. (SID THE SCIENCE KID, which used to be in this timeslot, has moved to 3:30pm.)
8am SUPER WHY! – No change (On Monday, September 6, SUPER WHY! will be preempted for a special one-hour THE CAT IN THE HAT. SUPER WHY! returns at 8am every weekday after that.)
8:30am DINOSAUR TRAIN – No change
9am SESAME STREET – No change
10am to Noon During the school year, this block of time is known as Instructional Television (ITV) and is programmed by the Oklahoma State Department of Education and the Department of Libraries. Programs in this timeblock are specifically chosen to be recorded and used by teachers as part of their classroom curriculum.
ITV programming doesn’t air on Monday, September 6th because of the Labor Day holiday. Instead, we’re airing the special one-hour THOMAS & FRIENDS: MISTY ISLAND RESCUE at 10am. This is the only time this can be seen because it has only a one-month broadcast window. Then at 11am, it’s LILLY’S LIGHT, a special one-hour program about an enchanted lighthouse that serves as a foster home for children.

12:30pm CLIFFORD THE BIG RED DOG – No change
1pm MARTHA SPEAKS – No change
1:30pm BARNEY & FRIENDS – No change
2pm WORDWORLD – No change
2:30pm THOMAS & FRIENDS – No change
3pm CURIOUS GEORGE – No change
3:30pm SID THE SCIENCE KID – With the addition of THE CAT IN THE HAT, PBS had to move this series out of the morning block. We found a place for it in the afternoon. (Change: ARTHUR moves down half an hour to 4pm.)
4pm ARTHUR – Moved from 3:30pm
4:30pm WORDGIRL – This series moves down from 4pm. (Change: ELECTRIC COMPANY is no longer on our Main channel. It can still be seen weekdays on OETA KIDS and weekends on OETA OKLA. See the schedule for those channels for specific days and times.
