memorialdayWe're celebrating Memorial Day all weekend long on OETA!

We have some wonderful special programs rolling out over the next few days aimed at honoring those who have defended our freedom and those who have lost their lives doing so.

Saturday, 4pm to 7pm -- FOR LOVE OF LIBERTY: AMERICA’S BLACK PATRIOTS looks at the largely untold history of African-American participation in America's armed forces, from the earliest days of the Revolutionary War to the conflict in Afghanistan.

Sunday, 1pm -- D-DAY: THE PRICE OF FREEDOM pays tribute to the courageous men who began the liberation of France more than 60 years ago.

Sunday, 6pm -- FLY BOYS: WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA’S TUSKEGEE AIRMEN tells the triumphant story of the African-American soldiers who served their country during World War II.

Sunday, 7pm and 8:30pm -- NATIONAL MEMORIAL DAY CONCERT -- Another all-star lineup this year, including Kelli O’Hara, Dennis Haysbert, Katherine Jenkins, Yolanda Adams, Brad Paisley, Colin Powell and hosts Gary Sinise and Joe Mantegna. They will join the National Symphony Orchestra on West Lawn of the US Capitol to honor men and women in uniform.

6:30pm -- STATELINE "Thunderbirds" airs tonight in place of the nightly newscast. "Thunderbirds" focuses on the Oklahoma Army National Guard 45th Infantry Division.

9pm -- HALLOWED GROUNDS visits 22 of America's overseas military cemeteries, and tells the story of these remarkable places with historical sequences about the wars and battles that created them, and moving vignettes and interviews about the men and women who rest in them.

okla_logoThe celebration continues on OKLA with OKLAHOMA WORLD WAR II STORIES on Sunday at 5pm and Monday at 6am and 9pm. LOST AND FOUND: LEGACY OF USS LAGARTO airs Sunday at 6pm. Then VOICES OF A NEVER ENDING DAWN airs Monday from 12:30pm to 2:30pm and is told in the haunting words of the young soldiers who were forced to fight an unknown enemy called "Bolsheviks."

Keep your eye on the full OETA schedule for a complete listing of all the programs honoring the brave men and women who have fought to preserve our freedom.
