OETA Begins Summer Pledge Drive
OETA-The Oklahoma Network recently announced the lineup for its annual summer pledge drive, AugustFest, beginning Thursday July 30.
The funds raised will enable OETA to purchase educational PBS and syndicated programming for 2010.
AugustFest 2009 programs include Tony Bennett: An American Classic, which features breathtaking stage productions that take the viewer on an emotional musical journey of this legendary entertainer's life, with appearances by Diana Krall, Elton John, Stevie Wonder and more. The program airs Sunday August 2 at 7 p.m.
Also included in the lineup are Great Performances: Pete Seeger's 90th Birthday Celebration, airing Friday August 7 at 10 p.m., once-in-a-lifetime concert event from Madison Square Garden with artists including Bruce Springsteen, John Mellencamp Ben Harper and Dave Matthews, Get Down Tonight: The Disco Explosion, Monday August 3 at 9 p.m., which spotlights the still-thriving disco beat brought back by the original artists, and Great Performances: Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood in Concert from Madison Square Garden, airing Wednesday August 5 at 10 p.m., a concert special featuring the music icons in their first concert together since their days in the supergroup Blind Faith.
Other pledge programs include The Big Band Years, airing Tuesday August 4 at 7 p.m., country queen Dolly Parton in Dolly Live in London, airing Tuesday August 4 at 9 p.m., and Yanni Voices: Live from the Forum in Acapulco, airing Sunday August 2 at 8 p.m. AugustFest 2009 concludes with the Best of AugustFest, Sunday August 9, featuring the top pledge programs.
