OETA Executive Director John McCarroll is retiring after nine years of service on September 28, 2012. To show their appreciation for his service, the OETA Board of Directors recently unanimously approved a resolution of appreciation.

Mr. John McCarroll 

WHEREAS, John McCarroll has faithfully dedicated nine years of professional leadership as Executive Director of the Oklahoma Educational Television Authority from 2003 to 2012;

WHEREAS,  his creativity, thoughtful perspective, and vision for education have supported OETA in its mission to provide quality educational public television programming to the children and citizens of Oklahoma; and

WHEREAS, during his tenure, John McCarroll has overseen the completion of the digital conversion of the entire statewide public television network consisting of four full-powered transmitters, 14 translators, a new state-of-the art OETA network studio and master control center and a new 10,000 square foot OETA Tulsa studio on the OSU-Tulsa campus; and

WHEREAS, John McCarroll has been awarded two regional EMMY Awards for his work on various OETA projects; and

WHEREAS, he has shown fiscal responsibility during the OETA network conversion to digital television by consistently receiving clean audits;


NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the OETA Board of Directors expresses its sincere appreciation to John McCarroll for his service to the more than 1.8 million weekly viewers of OETA, congratulates him and wishes him the very best in his retirement; and,


BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that in recognition of his dedication and extraordinary leadership in support of public television in Oklahoma, the OETA management conference room shall be henceforth named “The John McCarroll Conference Room.”
